FAQ

What is Retyre?

Retyre is a Norwegian advanced tyre company specialising in the development and mass production of sustainable tyres using innovative materials and manufacturing methods that significantly reduce environmental impact compared to conventional tyres.

What does do we focus on today?

Today, Retyre focuses on producing sustainable tyres with a production method that reduces CO₂ emissions and enables high levels of material reuse and recyclability,
aiming to reshape the tyre industry toward environmental sustainability.

What makes our tyres sustainable?

Retyre tyres are designed using renewable and reclaimed materials capable of supporting circular life cycles. They reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a large margin compared to conventional rubber tyre manufacturing, according to verified life cycle assessments.

How does Retyre reduce environmental impact?

Retyre uses advanced manufacturing techniques and new materials that:

  • reduce emissions during production,
  • allow tyres to be 100 % recyclable, and promote closed-loop circular economy outcomes.
  • Independent life cycle assessments show CO₂ reductions between approximately 60 % and 82 % compared to conventional tyres.

What types of tyres do we offer?

Retyre currently supplies sustainable tyres for a range of applications, particularly in the bicycle and light vehicle markets, such as:

  • bicycles and e-bikes
  • children’s bikes
  • bike trailers
  • prams/strollers and similar lightweight vehicle categories
  • Future expansion to other categories like cars and motorcycles is indicated as “coming soon.”

What is our manufacturing technology?

Retyre has developed patented manufacturing technology, such as injection moulding processes that enable automated production with cleaner emissions and
greater material control versus traditional tyre production.

Are we involved in industry partnerships?

Yes. Retyre has entered into strategic partnerships to expand its technology to new product categories. For example, a recent multi-million euro funding round backed by strategic investors supports co-development of performance tyre products with industry partners.

Where is Retyre based?

Retyre is headquartered in Norway and employs engineers, scientists, and design specialists working on materials science, production innovation, and tyre development.

How do we plan to scale production?

With recent investments, Retyre plans to scale automated manufacturing and install production cells both in Norway and internationally, enabling localized clean tyre production and broader global distribution.

Do we support circular economy principles?

Yes. Retyre’s approach emphasises circular economy outcomes, focusing on materials that can be repurposed and reused in new products, and promoting a sustainable supply chain that minimises waste.

Is Retyre only a technology developer or also a tyre producer?

Retyre is both a technology innovator and a tyre producer. The company develops patented manufacturing technology and applies it to produce sustainable tyres, with an aim to bring them into larger markets through scaled production and partnerships.

What differentiates us from other bicycle tyre manufacturers?

Retyre differs from traditional bicycle tyre manufacturers because it does not use conventional rubber compounds in its tyre production.
Instead, Retyre uses engineered thermoplastic materials that enable cleaner manufacturing, improved recyclability, and significantly lower CO₂ emissions compared to traditional rubber-based tyre production.
Unlike conventional tyre manufacturing, which relies on vulcanised rubber processes, Retyre’s production method allows for greater material control, automation, and compatibility with circular economy systems.

Can I buy Retyre products in a shop near me?

Currently, Retyre tyres are available exclusively for OEM integration with bicycle brands. Wider retail availability is planned and will include major sports chain stores once production scales.

Which Retyre tyre is best for city commuting?

For urban commuting, the INTI model is recommended. It is designed for lightweight city bikes and e-bikes, offering optimal grip, durability, and performance under stop-and-go traffic conditions.

Can I retrofit Retyre tyres on my e-bike?

Retrofit of Retyre tyres on existing e-bikes depends on the wheel and frame specifications. It is recommended to consult with your bike manufacturer or authorized OEM partner to ensure compatibility, safety, and optimal performance.
